Which dummy weight do I pick?
250 g for young and small dogs, 500 g for serious work. In doubt, start light — throwing technique matters more than weight.
Do I need a whistle?
At distance and against the wind your voice does nothing; a fixed-pitch whistle always carries. It's the cheapest upgrade to your recall.
Will this suit a non-retriever?
Absolutely. Any dog that loves fetching benefits — retrievers are just the ones that need a job most.
