Small dogs have small mouths, and big kibble often gets left in the bowl. Imby's Mini kibble is about 9 mm and made for adult dogs from 1 to 10 kg.

The protein comes from mealworm larvae: the recipe contains 23% insect. Imby describes the food as complete and hypoallergenic. The bag holds a mix of two kibble types, one of which is baked in the oven at a low temperature with oregano and thyme.

It also contains sweet potato, naked oats, white rice and garden peas, with small amounts of herbs, vegetables and berries. The analysis: 27% crude protein and 17% crude fat, which comes to 3,852 kcal per kilo. You choose between 1.5 kg and 5 kg. Imby is a Belgian brand that makes its food in Belgium.

Switch gradually over seven days, as Imby recommends. On days 1 and 2 a quarter of the daily portion is Imby and the rest is the old food, on days 3 and 4 half, on days 5 and 6 three quarters. From day 7 you give only Imby. Small dogs eat small portions, so kitchen scales help.

Feeding tips

Always provide fresh drinking water. Switch gradually over seven days and keep an eye on the stools that week. Small dogs put on weight quickly: weigh the portion rather than scooping by eye. Keep the bag well closed in a dry place.

Questions

How is it different from Medium?
The taste is the same. The difference is mainly the kibble: Mini is about 9 mm, Medium about 14 mm. Mini is also slightly richer, with 27% protein and 17% fat against 26% and 15% for Medium.
How much do I feed per day?
According to Imby, 29 to 48 grams for a dog up to 2 kg and 136 to 166 grams for a dog of 8 to 10 kg. The full table is on this page. Keep an eye on your dog's weight and adjust the portion if needed.
Which bag should I choose?
If you want to see whether your dog likes it first, start with 1.5 kg. A dog of 4 to 6 kg eats 81 to 110 grams a day according to Imby, so that lasts about two weeks. If it suits, move on to 5 kg.
Is it suitable for a dog with a food allergy?
Imby calls the kibble hypoallergenic: insect protein is a new protein source for most dogs. If your dog has a diagnosed allergy, check the composition on the bag first and talk to your vet.
