Sound familiar?

  • Your dog has never seen a puzzle before
  • His kibble is gone in half a minute
  • You want to start, but not too hard straight away

Has your dog never done a puzzle? Then you want that first success to come quickly. In the Beginner Set every piece asks for just one move: slide a lid aside, turn a lid round or push a slider out of the way. The reward is right underneath.

You get a base board with five level 1 puzzle pieces. On the two Onix pieces your dog slides the lid open; through a hole in the lid he can already smell what's underneath. Oli has a turning lid over four compartments. On Zhu he pushes four sliders aside. You spread something soft on the Terra lick mat, for in between.

Fill the compartments with treats, kibble or a little peanut butter. Set the pieces out differently each time and it's a new puzzle every time. Once your dog can do all of this, build on it with single pieces or the Smarty Set: everything fits the same base board.

Every part is made of food-safe, recyclable polypropylene in Europe and can go in the top rack of the dishwasher. The set measures 24 x 18 x 6 cm and weighs 0.6 kg.

How to play

  1. Fill the compartments

Put treats or kibble under the lids and spread something soft on the Terra lick mat.

  2. Show him

Leave a lid half open the first few times, so he sees where the good stuff is.

  3. Rearrange it

Move and turn the pieces. That way it's a new puzzle every time.

Why we sell this

  • At the daycare we see that a dog who has never done a puzzle soon gives up if it's too hard straight away. Quick success keeps him searching. This set is built that way: one move per piece, with the reward right underneath.

Playing and safety

Always supervise play, especially the first few times: that's how your dog learns how the puzzle works. Pawzler is not a chew toy. If your dog starts chewing or gets frustrated, guide him back to searching, or take the puzzle away for a while and try again later. Put the puzzle away once all the treats have been found. Check the pieces regularly and replace a damaged one; they're sold separately.

Questions

My dog has never done a puzzle. How do I start?
Put just one or two pieces on the board and leave a lid half open, so he sees the treat straight away. Reward every attempt. Once that goes well, close the lids a bit more and add another piece.
Is this set suitable for a puppy?
Yes. The Beginner Set is made for puppies and dogs with no puzzle experience yet. Do play together and stay close, though, because it isn't a chew toy.
What do I put in the compartments?
Treats, regular kibble or a little peanut butter. On the Terra lick mat you spread something soft, like yoghurt or peanut butter. Choose a peanut butter without xylitol.
Can it go in the dishwasher?
Yes, every part can go in the top rack. Give them a quick rinse with warm water afterwards.
What if my dog has mastered this set?
Then you build on it. All Pawzler pieces fit the same base board, so you can add single level 2 and 3 pieces or move on to the Smarty Set.
