  • Hard and smooth

Polyethylene your dog can't get a grip on: he has to push.

  • Floats on water

Rolls over grass and sand and stays afloat in a pond or lake.

  • Fillable L and XL

Water, sand or gravel makes the ball heavier and pushing harder work.

Sound familiar?

  • Every ball in your house is wrecked within a week
  • Your dog pushes everything along with his nose
  • You want something that uses his whole body, not just running

Some dogs wreck every ball within a week. The Push-n-Play isn't made for carrying: it's too big and too smooth to pick up. Your dog pushes it across the grass with his nose, chest and paws.

The ball is hard polyethylene with a smooth finish. It rolls, floats on water and can come along to the pond too. The L (25 cm) and XL (35 cm) have a plug: fill them with water, sand or gravel and pushing gets a good deal heavier.

You choose from M (15 cm), L (25 cm) and XL (35 cm). Blue comes in all three sizes, red in L and XL. Jolly Pets makes the ball in the USA.

Please note: this is not a chew toy. Lots of biting on the hard plastic can wear down teeth. Always supervise play.

How to play

  1. Introduce the ball

Put the ball down and reward your dog for every touch with his nose.

  2. Roll it away

Give the ball a nudge and let your dog go after it to push it further.

  3. Make it heavier

Once he finds the L or XL easy, fill the ball with a little water or sand.

Complete the game

Often bought together. Each one goes in with its own button.

Why we sell this

  • At the daycare we'd rather keep dogs that destroy everything busy with something they can't grab. A hard ball that is too big for the mouth has to be pushed, with nose, chest and paws. That is play and work at the same time.

Playing and safety

Always supervise play. Choose a size your dog can't take in his mouth. It is not a chew toy: if your dog bites at it hard, stop the game, as the hard plastic can wear down his teeth. Check the ball regularly and throw it away if it cracks, gets sharp edges or the plug comes loose. Play on grass or sand and keep sessions short.

Questions

Which size should I choose?
Choose a ball that is clearly too big to pick up in the mouth: your dog should push it, not carry it. As a rule of thumb, M (15 cm) suits smaller dogs and L (25 cm) or XL (35 cm) suits medium and large dogs. If in doubt, go for the bigger size.
Can I fill the ball?
The L and XL have a plug. Fill them with water, sand or gravel and the ball gets heavier and pushing gets harder. The M has no plug.
Is it really indestructible?
It is made of hard polyethylene and can take a lot, but no toy is indestructible. It isn't a chew toy either: lots of biting on the hard plastic can wear down your dog's teeth.
Can I play Treibball with it?
Yes. Jolly Pets names Treibball as one way to play: your dog pushes the ball with nose and chest to wherever you want it.
